The cover engraving: a bone-in rib chop drawn by hand, in the register of a butcher’s catalogue.
Kiachakis S.A. has traded meat wholesale out of the Athens Central Market since 1960, supplying retail chains, independent butcher shops and professional kitchens across Attica, Boeotia and Evia. Three generations in, the company had everything a modern supplier needs: a 700 square metre facility, its own refrigerated fleet, ISO 22000:2018 and HACCP. What it did not have was anything online. We built the first site, and spent the detail budget in three places a visitor actually touches.
The company page runs eight chapters deep, from the founding in 1960 to the recycling programme, so it carries a section rail down the right edge. At rest it is eight hairline ticks and nothing else. Scroll and it fades in, the tick for the section you are in grows and takes the house red, and its number and name slide out from behind it. It never asks for attention, and you always know where you are in the story. On tablet and phone it steps aside entirely.
Coverage got the same restraint. Instead of an embedded map, Attica is a single red point on a faint grid, with Boeotia and Evia on spokes and three dashed rings marking the reach. A ring pulses out from the hub every few seconds and the core dims with it, so the page reads as a working network rather than a static diagram. The catalogue is the third place: all six categories are drawn as engravings rather than photographed, each sitting alone on the paper with its origin countries underneath, so a professional scanning for lamb or game meets a drawing that respects the trade.
